Matthew 5:17-18 Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets, I did not come to destroy BUT TO FULFILL. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle by no means pass from the Law till all is fulfilled. Without considering the whole passage, we need to understand this scripture and teach it as it is. Did Jesus say, be bound to the law? Did by saying He did not come to abolish but to fulfil mean, we still bound by the law which came through Moses-John 1:17? Does it mean that? Do you by any chance think that? Are you sure you not lost? Coz this scripture doesnt mean any of that! John 8:32 And you will know the truth and it shall set you free. Let us consider the passage now: 1. Do not think That I came to destroy the Law or prophets Here the people couldnt comprehend Jesuss teaching because He was doing what He wanted in His own way told by the Father and in many cases it was in contradiction with the law-John 1:17. What is to destroy the Law? To destroy the Law is to do away with, meaning we can simply say, Jesus didnt come to do away with the Law ok, got that? I hope so. What is to fulfil if He did not come to do away with the law? Fulfilling in this Context means to Complete successfully the law or meet the requirements or expectations of the law. Now it is clear that Jesus Aimed @not doing away with the Law but close no eye @His intention. He came as a spotless lamb, He came to be a sacrifice, goats blood and animals blood didnt fulfill the Law, meaning? Animal blood made people to be bound by the law INCLUDING HERESIES ABOUT THE SABBATH. Jesus fulfilled the law in a context that each and every law including Sabbath was fulfilled completely. Verse 18: Yes the Law will ever be binding but in which bases? That it mean you can fulfil its requirements? Come on Bangani, Ben can you fulfil it? Until the law is fulfilled heaven and earth will not pass away...meaning? Something more is required here and Jesus did it, He did it all. I took time writing this with the help of the Holy Spirit and if this truth is useless to you ignore it and live in the curse of the law. Thank you.
