Mauritian firm, Omnicane to set up $250 million sugar cane factory in Ghana... Mauritian energy and manufacturing firm, Omnicane is to set up a-$250-million sugar cane factory in Ghana by the end of this year. The factory would have the capacity of producing 100 thousand tonnes of refined sugar every year. It is also expected to create about 2000 jobs, while sourcing all their inputs from the country. Speaking to JOY BUSINESS from Mauritius, Chief Executive of Omnicane, Jacques dUienville said the factory was attracted to Ghana because of the favourable business environment. According to Trade and Industry Minister, Haruna Idrissu, the move is part of governments plan to encourage the establishment of more industries in the Ghana to produce mainly for the local market.
