*** Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s successor and his Khulafaa inheritors *** Salam aleykum, I would like to give my humble contribution in clarifying some points regarding the confusion about Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s successor or Khaleefah and his Khulafaa inheritors. ** The Tareeqah ** The Tareeqah which mean the spiritual path has been given a famous definition “al Tareeqatu maa yaraahu Shaykh”. It means the Tareeqah is depending on the Shaykh’s statements and manifestations. In other words, the teaching of the spiritual knowledge of the Tareeqah will be regarding the Shaykh of the time. We know that there are 41 spiritual ways or paths which all come from our Prophet Sayyidina Muhammed (PBUH) who is the main trunk of the famous tree which is described in Surat un Noor. From this tree comes 41 big branches and one of them is the continuity of the main trunk, the most high Tareeqat un naqshbandiyyat il aliyyah. Regarding what Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (QAS) stated, all the 40 taps have dried, which means no more new branches, and only one is still running, the Tareeqat un Naqshbandiyyat il Aliyyah. Therefore, only this main branch is still growing with all the sub branches sprouting from it. Each branch is lead by a an authorised Shaykh who has already reached the level of “Irshaad” (guidance), granted by his direct Shaykh’s branch and by the order of the Prophet Sayyidina Muhammed (PBUH), and he has appointed certain amount of followers or “Mureeds” which means seekers in the spiritual path. The follower has to obey and surrender to the Shaykh in order to benefit from his guidance and to have the privilege to be amongst his INHERITORS. Respectively, the seeker takes “Bay3ah” (pledge allegiance) from his Shaykh and accept to be his “Mureed”. In Tareeqah, the Shaykh doesnt choose his followers, they have been appointed under his dome by Allah almighty and his beloved Prophet (PBUH). An authorised Shaykh cannot teach other Shaykh’s followers with out the permission of their assigned Shaykh, unless on the basis on advice or imparting blessings. In order to keep runing the dhikr gatherings for the Mureeds, the Shaykh appoint some of them as a ‘’Moqaddam’’, which means a local representative, to lead and hold the the Dhikr in congregation where the shaykh sees it’s necessary. The Moqaddam doesn’t have a status of a Murshid Shaykh, he is only one of the Mureeds who has been given ‘’Ijaazah’’ or permission to lead the Dhikr of the Tareeqah and to give advice in his local area. ** The Khaleefah *** In the time of Mawlana Shaykh Abdullah ad-Daghistani (QAS) the succession ship has been given to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim as the head Shaykh of this main branch. At the same time two new sub branches came from it, whom are Mawlana Shaykh Hisham and Mawlana Shaykh Adnan. Each branch is represented and lead by one of these two authorised Shaykhs by the permission of their guide, who at that time was Mawlana Shaykh Abdullah (QAS), and by the order of the Prophet Sayyidina Muhammed (PBUH). These two personalities have been granted the Khilaafah in the Tareeqah. What ever Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and grand Shaykh, Mawlana Shaykh Abdullah, had stated must be taken as a seal to be accepted and respected. Many recorded Sohbas indicate that Mawlana Shaykh Nazim spoke about the Maqaams and the spiritual roles of Mawlana Shaykh Hisham and Mawlana Shaykh Adnan. They are respectively great masters and head Shaykhs in the sub branches of the Tareeqat un Naqshbandiyyah. Their is no doubt about their high station among the “Aqtaab” (Pole) of the time. They are linked directly to their Shaykh who authorised them and gave them the Khilaafah as a Murshid. For this Mawlana Shaykh Nazim was respecting their missions and they were blessed and honoured to be close to him by giving back their high respect and asking to be under his holy dome in humbleness as his Mureeds. They continue to drink from his ocean of knowledge and wisdom and achieve the honour and privilege to be among his Khulafaa inheritors. Indeed, this make them to be inheritors from both Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and Mawlana Shaykh Abdullah. Once. personally, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim told me about the spiritual role of Mawlana Shaykh Hisham as an authorised Shaykh by grand Shaykh as he also clarified this in many recorded videos. He further stated in a famous video, recorded in November 2011 the 4th, that Mawlana Shaykh Muhammed Adil has been granted the Khilaafah by the permission of grand Shaykhs and by the order of the Prophet (PBUH) as an authorised Shaykh in the Tareeqat un Naqshbandiyyat il aliyyah as the successor in the continuity of the main branch and as the head Shaykh of this main branch in the golden chain. In deduction of this statement, Mawlana Shaykh Muhammed is the 41th Shaykh in the golden chain. This last statement doesnt lessen the mission or change the role which has been given to other Shuyookh of the Tareeqah as they have their own responsibility towards their Mureeds to guide by the support of all grand Shaykhs and the Prophet (PBUH). May Allah almighty grant us the right understanding of the Tareeqah and to benefit from our Shuyookhs teaching and wisdom by humbling ourselves under their feet. Ameen. الفاتحة
