May 2015 bring greater awareness of where our attention is going and how our social interactions influence who we are and how we act. Most of us, much of the time, intend to be a positive influence. But if we allow our attention to be pulled and tugged by vested interests in politics and commercial society, and by our friends and acquaintances who allow their attention to be so controlled, then ultimately we are perpetuating those vested interests. The only way to achieve liftoff into a better world is for all of us to become a bit better at making conscious decisions regarding where and how we focus our attention, and which friends and acquaintances enhance our ability to focus our attention on morally significant issues and events. Each of us is a node in a web that tends towards stasis. It is not easy to stretch the web in a new positive direction - especially when it must all be done while enhancing civility, keeping righteousness in check, and acknowledging our obligation to incorporate all evidence, including that which is not pleasing to our identity, our tribe, and our worldview. Peace on earth, goodwill to all in 2015.
