May 23, 2014 Day 20 HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAISLEY! Thank goodness she didn’t know it was her birthday because we didn’t do anything special. In fact, today was a very difficult day. I was TIRED and I had all three girls. I am GRATEFUL to have all three girls, but this is defiantly going to be a juggling act for me. Please pray for me to have patience during this transitional time. We will get into a routine and everything will work out, but it is getting into a routine that is hard. This morning Lilly woke up at 4:00 am. I don’t remember what I got her, but I remember that she wanted something to eat and that I wanted to be asleep. Lilly stayed up and watched some TV, but I was quickly awaked again when Lilly was crying out in throat pain. I gave her same pain meds, and then attempted to get some more zzz’s before Paisley wanted to eat. When all four of us were finally up, we made our way to the kitchen for breakfast. One of my challenges right now is being able to fulfill all of Lilly’s cravings. She wanted her “lunchables” aka frozen dinners for breakfast. She also ate some mac and cheese. Likewise, Callie wanted mac and cheese and a frozen dinner of her own. Throw Paisley into the mix and breakfast took a full hour or more from start to finish. Breakfast finally finished and I decided to flush Lilly’s broviac again. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get any blood return, so I called the nurse and left a message. Paisley and Callie then feel asleep, so I took the time to get the room put back in order while waiting for the nurse to call back. About ½ an hour later, the nurse called and said we needed to come in. I made the mistake of telling the nurse we could come in any time and ended up having to wake Callie and Paisley when she said right now. We made it to the doctor’s office a ½ an hour later and were there for about an hour waiting for the TPA to open up the broviac. All of my girls did pretty good, but when it was all said and done I was READY to go. We decided on SUBWAY for lunch and were going to try to go to the park for a walk, but Lilly was spent and we headed home. This did not go over well for Callie. Because Lilly was having such a hard day, many of our “plans” changed. FLEXIBILITY is a new way of life for us and is hard for Callie to understand. I have no doubt she will figure it out though! All afternoon was spent on survival mode, but Daddy showed up early at 5:00 pm. It must have been those new tires that Team Ashton surprised Jake with. Jake says, “Thank you Team Ashton with my truck with new tires. It means a lot to be taken care of by such wonderful people and such a wonderful organization. Also a big thank you to Wolf Auto in Kimball for putting them on and those involved in secretly getting my truck to the shop—Craig and Karissa and Amanda and Shane.” Shortly after Jake showed up, Morgan showed up with dinner and gifts from her co-worker Shar. Morgan is an example or someone who completely forgets herself to help those in need. I didn’t know Morgan before Mother’s Day, but I am a better person because I know her today. I am so grateful for her willingness to serve those she barely knows—although I feel like I have known her for a long time. Speaking of awesome service, I didn’t write about it in yesterday’s post, but I absolutely work with the BEST PEOPLE EVER. On Thursday the 22, Longfellow staff ALL wore their Lilly’s Battle Squad shirts to school. Mrs. Mason also let the kindergartners release balloons for Lilly at the 5th grade send off. It was so humbling to see my co-workers, friends, and students showing such support. I miss them all, but know when this is all said and done we will make more memories together. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! We rounded out the day with dinner and good conversation with some new friends. Just before bedtime, I was feeling VERY overwhelmed and had to excuse myself from my family to take a little breather. As I stated at the beginning of the post, I have my three wonderful daughters here by myself. It is AMAZING, but it is going to be very challenging. However, I know my family has the good Lord on my side as well as all of you. We WILL get through this! A good night’s sleep will help! Thank you Aunt Elsie and the Ferrin’s for the cards and gifts!
