May 28, 2004: In a thoroughly implausible #climatechange scenario, a feature film called The Day After Tomorrow is released. Over the course of 48 hours, North America is plunged into Arctic conditions. Dennis Quaid, who plays a dashing climate scientist, can’t get a taxi in Manhattan because they’re all under 70 feet of ice. His son, played by Jake Gyllenhaal still manages to get the girl in the face of global catastrophe.
