May I let off some steam? Ambit, my electricity supplier, has been giving me very reasonable kWh rates for the past 2-3 years and my monthly electricity bill was automatically deducted from my checking account. I was charged 12.50¢ per kWh last month. Without any warning, the variable rate jumped to 26.31 on my next bill. I got the usual explanation of supply-demand, cold weather, etc., when many other Escos still hover around 13-14¢ per kWh. Of course I switched the very next day to a reasonable fixed rate of 13.06¢. I certainly hope that many of their customers will switch to another supplier. :-(
