May Metal Price Movement Guide Stainless Nickel has raced - TopicsExpress

May Metal Price Movement Guide Stainless Nickel has raced ahead in April and the price is now in excess of $18k/tonne. This represents a 30% increase year to date. Alloy surcharges have risen by 8% for May. The main contributory factors behind the increases are the nickel export ban in Indonesia and the on-going conflict in Russia. As ever, increasing prices have resulted in re-stocking and has therefore fuelled demand. Prices look set to follow this trend in the short term and further increases in June are inevitable. Customers are advised to top up their stocks to mitigate against price increases and possible shortages. Mild Steel Prices continued to track a relatively stable path throughout April. Demand was a little down due to the Easter holidays, causing a slight dip in prices. However this is expected to be a very short term situation. Improved demand in May and June should see a recovery of any ground lost. Aluminium After a period of price stability, aluminium has begun to edge up in April. Metals appear to be more popular with speculators and they have bid prices upwards. May prices will certainly see and increase from April and if the LME maintains current trends, there will be further increases to follow.
