Maya Angelou and Rachel Moscoso Denis MAYA ANGELOU APRIL 4, 1928 – May 28, 2014 By Carl Fombrun On Thursday January 19, 2006 I attended a cocktail reception in honor of Dr. Maya Angelou and her son, Dr. Guy Johnson at the private mansion of Ambassador Steven Green and Dorothea Green on La Gorce Circle in Miami Beach. Ambassador Green and his wife are the creators of the foundation Medishare. The event was to raise money and awareness for Project Medishares work in Haiti towards social medicine and community development. As a member of the press and because of my interest and commitment to Haiti, I was invited in order to help spread the word about the work of Project Medishare! This event had as its special guests Dr. Maya Angelou and her son Dr. Guy Johnson. Beautiful poetry and a good time was had by all in the luxurious setting of the Green’s private home right on the beach.
