Maya Kodnani, Former Gujarat Minister Jailed For 2002 Riots, Granted Bail - NDTV Comment 1 by Nirmalangshu Mukherji: Maya Kodnanis case is crucial. If she is judicially found guilty of mass murder after all the appeals, it will be difficult for Modi to escape the charge of complicity. Her release on bail on health grounds must be a concern for justice. New evidence cannot be ruled out at the next stage of trial; she might want to open her mouth as well. Given her reported illness, will she survive to face the trial? /// Comment 2 by Abul Kalam Azad: Wait, there is no difference between BJP and Congress, right? between Batra and whoever-wrote-our-history books before? Like i said before, the difference is the lives and dignity of 170 million muslims. The difference is the transformation of insidious hatred for muslims into overt, obscene, glaringly visible injustice laced with impunity. Critique of elite liberals should be followed by the reclamation of the dissenting space by us who see the structural similarities. Keeping mum on bjp while all the while bashing liberals is pointless and self-serving.
