“Maybe Hitler did not kill enough Roma” Phrase said by Gilles - TopicsExpress

“Maybe Hitler did not kill enough Roma” Phrase said by Gilles Bourdouleix, Member of the National Assembly of France Notice the resemblance We are in a crazy world. We just spread our communiqué on the reprehensible deporting policy of the French Government and, when we thought it really difficult to raise even higher the level of intolerance and marginalization, a terrible slap of ignominy and disdain shook our faces when we read the piece of news we reproduce below. This weekend, during a dispute with the inhabitants of a Roma settlement, M.P. Bourdouleix said: “maybe Hitler did not kill enough Roma”. This Member of Parliament belongs to the Union of Democrats and Independents Party (UDI) and he is also the mayor of the municipality of Chalet. “These words are unworthy of an elected civil servant of the Republic”, condemned Fabienne Haloui, responsible for the commission of Rights and Freedoms of the French Communist Party (PCF). Haloui said that no situation, no act of anger, can justify the reference to a Nazi concentration camp and its genocidal policy. The presence of this M.P. at Parliament –she added- is a shame to national representation. Bourdouleix will be expelled from his political party (UDI), according to the information provided by the General Secretary of this centrist party after stating that his words are "unspeakable" and "incompatible" with the values of the organization. The president of the Union of Democrats and Independents, Jean-Louis Borloo, also condemned the statements of this Member of Parliament and he warned about the inevitable consequences. Meanwhile, the president of the National Assembly, the Socialist Claude Bartolone, said that “the words pronounced by Mr. Bourdouleix are despicable and indefensible. They harm France. They are an insult to our history and our common values”. We, Roma women and men from Spain, experience a shock every time we hear about these atrocities. We feel so sad when they tell us that in Greece and Hungary there are paramilitary groups dressed in Nazi clothing wandering around our neighborhoods, and that they assault us, threaten us and sometimes even kill us. A few days ago we condemned the Slovenian police which acted violently and used disproportionate force against defenseless Roma men, women and children from a settlement called Budulovská of the Moldava nad Bodvou city. A few weeks ago, an extremist group from the Czech Republic called a new racist march against Roma in Ceske Budejovice, right after the clashes that took place the previous Saturday with the police, which ended up with ten people wounded and thirty detainees. Is it strange, then, that in this racist delirium that lives a part of Europe there is a crazy M.P. who dares to regret that Hitler did not kill us all in the death camps?
