Maybe its because I love to camp in the forest, have incense the smell of pine, fir and balsam, or, most likely because I am so proud to have grown up in Indiana, PA, the Christmas Tree Capital of the World, but as long as I have a choice, I will ALWAYS have a live Christmas tree. Regardless of the effort. I didnt allow my mom to have an artificial tree as long as I lived at home. She bought one the year I moved out. :) Many times our family will get a permit and go into the Colorado mountains to cut a tree in areas that need cleared. Other times, if schedules dont permit, we mortgage the house and buy a tree at a local nursery. This year was no exception. So even though the dead needles are falling on my face as I remove the ornaments, the remaining water has leaked all over the carpet, Ive had to recall some engineering tactics (using leverage to undo the screws holding the tree in place - lefty loosey) and barely getting the tree out the front door in a trail of highly flammable residue, knowing all the needles will certainly clog the vacuum, I am content. I hope you all had a very great holiday.
