Maybe one of my most stressful weeks ever. Being a juror in an attempted murder case. I have long been a proponent, that to be fully integrated...African Americans have to be more inclusive in both the legal and political systems in both the country. And our own communities. It was my first time being on a jury. A process I took in, with all the seriousness I was instructed to do. It is never easy sitting and casting judgement on anyone. But to actually have jurors of our peers...we must step forward to accept that responsibility as citizens. Even when the accused is from our own sub group. I will never forget the events of this week....but I will sleep better knowing, being on the the inside of the process...that i believe with the advent of the right collection of people...fairness most definitely, can be achieved.
