Mayor of Koidu City Saa Emerson Lamina will today Wednesday 30th July 14, at a press conference due to be held soon announce a three day fasting and praying across the religious sects in Kono District for the victims of the deadly Ebola virus. During the fasting and praying period His Lordship Mayor and his team of men and women will engage in sensitising the district how to prevent the spread of the virus. In a separate incident two houses in Koidu City are quarantined. Specimens including blood samples are taken and sent to Kenema for medical examination. Residents of the houses quarantined will be isolated for a twenty one (21) day incubation period. After the twenty one days incubation period the residents of the houses are free to go if the medical results declare them free of the virus. According to reports in Freetown a staggering number of 450 Sierra Leoneans have died since the outbreak of the virus. Dr. Khan a virologist who died of the virus is the most recent victim of Ebola. Dr. Khan is hailed as a national hero for putting his life on the line while helping to save the lives of Ebola patients. Thanks to his Lordship for taking the bold step in bringing awareness to the People of Kono District about the deadly virus.
