McBride Gallery presents 100 Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic, an exhibit based on the newly published book by the same title, running November 15 through December 7. The book contains the biographies and paintings of the top 100 living plein air painters in the five-state area. Maryland painter and author Gary Pendleton spent two years researching the history of plein air painters who preceded and influenced current day painters. Perry Hall artist, Bruno Baran is featured in this historic book and his painting, The Red Cat Restaurant is included in the exhibition. Bruno is noted for his plein air painting accomplishments, especially a few awards from this past summer at The Ellicott City, and Solomons Island painting competitions. The exhibition features paintings in oil, watercolor and pastel by the painters featured in the book. Cynthia McBride said, This exhibit is historic in the art world. Viewing works by 100 of the top painters in the Mid-Atlantic in one exhibit, tied to a book documenting their history and art influences, with an opportunity to meet the artists is extraordinary. The exhibition weekend has a series of events open to the public, including a book signing, painting demonstrations at the gallery and a day of plein air painting. The Saturday evening November 15 artist reception is from 5 to 9 p.m. with Pendletons talk at 7 p.m., and the Sunday afternoon, November 16 artist reception is 1 to 4 p.m., with the author talk at 2 p.m. For more information contact: Bruno Baran Ph# 410-529-0545, Email:[email protected]
