Me: (in store whispering to employee so Isaiah doesnt hear) Can you please help me find X? (X=Carltons Christmas gift) Clerk: Sure, theyre right over here (purposefully not saying X out loud) Me: (walking over to X and showing Isaiah something on other end of aisle to distract him, then walking with box containing X on my head to check out so its too high for Isaiah to see picture on box, and then telling clerk to put it in a bag as quickly as possible so Isaiah doesnt see it) Me: (putting X in back of car, then strapping Isaiah into seat, whew, mission accomplished) Isaiah: Can I see the X that we bought Daddy? Me: (thinking - are you freaking serious?!?!?) Oh, what, the bowling ball we just bought Daddy? (trying to throw him off) Isaiah: We didnt buy Daddy a bowling ball, we bought him an X Me: No, we bought him a bowling ball. Here it is. (showing him a random ball in the back of the car) Isaiah: Thats not a bowling ball. Wheres the X? Me: We didnt buy him an X. Isaiah. Yes we did. Moral of the story: Dont take your 3 year Christmas shopping with you lest you want gift receiver to know exactly what you bought them well in advance of any gift exchange.
