Sean O’Neill from Quinns Cottages, Prospect, Limerick a local RSF community activist said that the action of Mairtin O Muilleoir in attending the ceremony indicated the final surrender of the Provisionals. “The Provos have now joined fully in with the ruling Classes. The justification used by the Sinn Fein Lord Mayor is that of peace building and moving into uncomfortable places. “He should have a chat with his leader Gerry Adams and ask about the death of Mrs McConville or all the other disappeared and the reasons they had to die and on whose orders. The fact is the deaths of the IRA volunteers have been sacrificed so that the Sinn Fein Lord Mayor can attend at the Cenotaph is a grotesque and ugly explanation of his actions. For the past 50 years I have been a republican and have never worn the poppy or attended at the Armistice Day ceremony – in my view anyone who does cannot continue to call themselves Irish Republicans.
