Media Statement 16.1.15 Lambie posts YouTube video with message to Queenslanders and asks them to consider ADF pay cuts when they vote. https://youtube/watch?v=iAagonTzZtI) Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie, has urged Queensland voters to put the LNP last and tick all the boxes in support of members of the Australian Defence Force at the upcoming state election. “The Liberal and National Parties have ensured that our soldiers, sailors and air force members will suffer an effective pay cut. In the YouTube video clip I’ve posted on line today, I’ve asked Queenslanders to give some thought about the members of our Australian Defence Force and Veterans - and how they and their families have been treated by Prime Minister Abbott - and his Liberal National party.” said Senator Lambie. “If Queenslanders want to send a strong message this QLD election…If they want to kick Tony Abbott and his liberal / National party mates in the shins – or a bit higher - over the way they’re treating our Defence families – then they can make their vote count in the QLD state election. On their ballot card I’ve asked Queenslanders to put the LNP candidate last, fill in all the boxes – and in the centenary of the ANZAC landings - vote for a true Australian who’ll live up to the ANZAC legend – not off it.” said Senator Lambie. In communities all over QLD – especially in Townsville and Brisbane - Defence families’ and veterans’ votes will play a significant role in determining which state candidate is successful. I’ve been informed that more than 50% of the 29,000 strong permanent Australian Army is based in QLD. Those Defence families mainly live in Townsville and Brisbane, and when you count Defence Reservists, Veterans and their supporters, they will number in the tens if not hundreds of thousands. Given how tight the political contest is in QLD, the ADF family, their supporters and their votes will determine which party governs and who will become Premier. If the Prime Minister Abbott and his Liberal and National parties in Canberra don’t deliver a fair pay rise of 1.5% by the 31st of January, then it’s fair enough to punish Mr Abbott, Premier Newman and the QLD LNP in a way that really hurts – at the ballot box in a democratic way.” said Senator Lambie.
