Meditate with Power! Cast in the Dungeon! Jeremiah 38:6 So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the king’s son. Meditate on God’s Word! Jeremiah did what God told him to do and he didn’t get a new home or a new car but was cast into a deep, dark dungeon. So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the king’s son, which was in the court of the prison, and they let Jeremiah down with ropes. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire. So Jeremiah sank in the mire. Jeremiah 38:5-6 Peter would also write to the church during a time of deep persecution around 68 A.D. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. I Peter 2:20 Suffering while never easy is sometimes the path we are on, often only for purposes that God understands as when Jesus suffered for us. And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed,42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Luke 23:41-42 So we are following in the footsteps of Jeremiah, Peter and Jesus when we endure suffering in our lives because only God knows the purpose. The one thing we know for sure is that God’s purposes are for our good and for His glory. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, 5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ Philippians 1:3-6 As God comforted Jeremiah, Peter, Jesus and Paul, let God be your comfort today!
