July 19, 2013 6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 KJV 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NIV Today’s youth are very anxious to drive. That seems to be the highlight of their teen years. They fail to realize that there is lots of responsibility that goes with that freedom. It is not just about being mobile, but also lots of financial cost associated with owning a car such as maintenance, car tags, insurance, and gas just to mention a few. Many times their anxiousness can cause problems that they are too immature to handle or understand. Today, many parents will give them one on their 16th birthday or when they graduate from high school as a reward for obedience. Rest assured most teenagers start making plans about the age of 13 as to what they would like as their dream car to be. They have no problem with making their request known. I can assure you that most, not all, teenagers at that age are not praying for the will of God in that situation. They have a one track mind, and that is getting a car. But today I want to talk to you about another form of supplication. It is petitioning God for our needs and some of our wants. I include wants, because God does want to bless us with the desires of our hearts. He truly does! We find that in this walk there are lots of prerequisites. Our blessings are always tied to our obedience. If you don’t believe me find a Believer that truly loves God, who honors and obeys Him and you will find a blessed Believer. I am not necessarily talking materialistic blessings, but a well-rounded blessed person. All blessings are not tangible! Then there are times that because of their obedience and reverence for God, you will find material blessings in their life as a manifestation of their obedience. We should be beyond the understanding as a teenager that the car is a symbol of our blessings. God has so much more to offer us. His riches go far beyond our wildest dream. He is more than capable of blessing exceedingly above anything we could ask or think. Remember, our minds are finite and He is infinite. He is the Alpha and the Omega. Everything that exists, or ever will does so through Him. All God ask of us is to keep our mind stayed on Him so that He can keep us in perfect peace. How can we do that Clara? You ask such great questions! It’s all in the Word. Our provisions, our comfort, our peace and safety are all wrapped up in the Word of God. If the trials of this life are keeping you up at night, you are not resting in His Word. If the news is causing anxiety attacks, you are not understanding that the battle is not yours, but the Lords. No matter what evil is before you, you must understand that we serve a God who never slumbers nor sleeps. Nothing in this world today has Him by surprise. Do you realize all the headlines, verdicts, chaos and everything else we are seeing is not a surprise to Him. His question to us is, “Do you trust Me? Do you really trust Me?” One day man is going to have to stand in judgment. He is going to have to give account for every sin done in his body. He will have to stand before an all just God! I ask you today, where is your mind? If you mind is fully on Him, have you made your request known? If you have, do you believe that He is more than capable of delivering you? It really doesn’t matter what your deliverance need is. It may be huge in your site. But, to God it is nothing. In fact, He had your answer before you were born. He has it in the ark of safety until it is time for manifestation. Are you willing to wait or do you want the easy want out and just throw in the towel. I am going to wait! No matter how long it takes. He has proven His faithfulness to me! No matter what, I am going to keep my mind on Him and continue to make my requests known. He is the only one that can deliver me.
