Meet Hope. We came across Hope while pulling from the Pitt County Animal Shelter. While we try not to take too many animals that need immediate medical attention, we could just not walk by her huge eyes and wagging tail. Found as a stray by Animal Control, Hope is a 6 year old tan and white Pit Bull. She has some hair loss and skin issues as a result of being covered in live fleas. Her front legs are very bowed and this has maybe caused some arthritis in her elbows. She has bad teeth and is unfortunately Heartworm positive. We also just found out she has an ear infection. However her most obvious issue are her breasts, she has been allowed, maybe forced, to have so many litters of puppies that her breasts hang lower than her knees. They get in the way when she walks, sits, and even pees. Some are even developing sores from being so irritated. Hope has many health concerns, and it is obvious she is uncomfortable as she walks with a limp and has trouble climbing stairs. However despite all of her issues, she has not lost ‘hope’ in people. She greats everyone with those huge brown eyes and a tail wag and despite her pain will try to get up to give you a kiss. We are working on fixing Hope up; she is now on flea prevention and being treated for her ear infection. In the very near future we will have her spayed, do an x-ray of the leg she is limping on, and we would also love to have a mastectomy done so Hope can have a better quality of life. This is where you come in! We are doing what we can so far, however to offer all of the medical care Hope needs we must have your help. To fix Hope up it will cost almost $800, and she is worth it!
