Meet Nora and Ivy . . . Ivy is the calico Persian and Nora is - TopicsExpress

Meet Nora and Ivy . . . Ivy is the calico Persian and Nora is the dark Exotic shorthair. I got both of these kitties a few weeks ago and must say its been a difficult road. Thanks to Mandy Talerico, I fell head over heels in love with the Exotic shorthair breed; because of this I went against my nature and sought out breeders of Exotic shorthair cats and will say that this was NOT a good experience. (Most of you know my history of getting my pets from humane organizations as well as taking in strays.) Just days after I got these kitties I took them to my vet, Dr. Chris Freeman of Sunset Point Animal Hospital (great vet clinic!). He diagnosed Ivy with stomatitis which is a severely advanced form of gingivitis and is an auto-immune disease. Ivy was allergic to the plaque on her teeth; her gums, mouth and throat were inflamed and her jaw was infected. And she was in pain. This kitty lived with a breeder who neglected her and did not have her properly treated, even though she was diagnosed with advanced gingivitis last year. The only cure for stomatitis is complete extraction of the teeth. Thanks to my amazing veterinarian who performed this surgery and thanks to my mom Dawn who supported me through this in so many ways, Ivy has been treated and is recovering amazingly well from this ordeal. Nora is a 9 year old retired breeding female and Ivy is a 5 year old who had one very difficult litter - a horrifying story that I wont go into here. So, in a round-about way, I carried on with my tradition, only this time I rescued two sweet purebreds from a neglectful breeder. Mandy led me down the path to these kitties
