Meet my goddaughter, Chioneso Bakr . We call her Chi Chi. She’s 19 and one of the brightest points of light in the lives of all of her family members, myself included. She’s currently a performing arts major at Adelphi University in Hempstead, NY. Chi Chi is what they call a triple threat: The voice of an angel when she sings even in multiple languages… The grace of a gazelle when she dances across disciplines from ballet to African folk to hip-hop. The emotional range of a Meryl Streep (well, she’s working on that, anyway!) And she models, too! She is also an awesome human being . She lives her life with deep kindness and consideration for others, and a wisdom and curiosity beyond her years. Chi Chi is one of those people that will restore your faith in America’s next generation. Chi Chi is not immune to the financial realities of higher education in our country. Adelphi’s tuition has increased significantly in the last year, and several of her grants have expired as she enters her sophomore year. So she has started a crowdsource fundraiser to cover the upcoming year’s tuition, and expenses. It’s not for everyone that I would make this ask, but for her I am humbly beseeching your help.
