Meet the Marvelous Monti. Three year old Monti loves to be outside running as fast as his little legs will take him (and that is remarkably fast). He loves his ball intensely, especially if you have brought along a chuck-it, that really revs him up. He is good on leash though does need to be reminded sometimes that there is a person on the other end and has very good recall off leash - which is good because he will be running ahead to explore the world, checking back reasonably often. Monti has been well loved and taught some fun tricks by his family including sit pretty, shake a paw, tug and release. They had to let him go due to an expensive medical procedure (a bladder stone but he is completely fine now) and the poor guy has taken some time to adjust. It seems as though he has been taught to growl and snarl when touched - it is actually a bit amusing but can be scary for some people so we are working through that with counter conditioning. He also has some issues around being told to go to his bed and can get very upset and snarly which we are also working on changing with positive methods. Monti is very high energy and can get really worked up when he sees something he wants i.e. to meet another dog or to have you toss that ball so we are also working on patience. He has made good progress in the last few weeks and is ready to go to a home where his new family is willing to continue working with him in the same way (all information will be provided). Bonus - Monti has no fear of men - I think he would prefer a outdoorsy sort of guy who likes to hike and can maybe take Monti to work with him.
