~*~ Meet the Nova Team ~*~ Renee, 24, Admin Volunteer: I became involved in dog rescue through my love of staffies. We have 3 staffies in our family, they are a very special kind of dog, although very misunderstood. Staffies also account for the vast majority of dogs in shelters, something I was not aware of as I bought one, two and then three, from breeders. Facebook introduced me to the behind the scenes world of companion animals, backyard breeding, puppy mills, animal shelters full to the brim etc. it was heartbreaking to say the least, seeing all the dogs in shelters that are on death row, so beautiful and so deserving of a second chance. After watching, sharing and feeling guilty for a few months I decided to get proactive and become a foster carer. I tried really hard, but foster failed. A year later and she is still here, as an official family member ;) After a short break from rescue I stumbled across Nova Pooch Rescue Inc and applied to become a volunteer. I now assist with organising promotional events, educating the public and helping to re-home our gorgeous pooches. Since joining Nova I have not looked back, we are a great group of people working together for the DOGS!
