Meghashyam, doppelganger! It is hard with books, so hard... as if one is not honouring some authors enough and entirely ignoring many. Attempting to compile a list of ten books that stayed with me 1- Raag Durbari by Shrilaal Shukl: a glimpse of India that remains as relevant today as it was, when the book was written. That, coupled with a sense of humour that converts darkness into disco-lights. 2- Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle: self explainatory! 3- Mrityunjay by Shivaji Savant: a take on Mahabharat centered on Karn. A brilliantly researched book that is also so well written that i couldnt help crying for the tragic hero in the end. 4- The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged and We tbe Living by Ayn Rand: my Bible or Geeta during my formative years. 5- The entire Diwcworld series by Terry Pratchett: Fantasy, humour, philosophy combined :) A treat, everytime i read any of these books. 6- Illusions by Richard Bach: Everytime i read it i discover something new in its pages. 7- Sansad se Sadak Tak by Sudama Pandey Dhoomil: his poetry, angst, philosophy and sociology still influences my thinking. 8- Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams: i always dreamt of space travel and getting to meet aliens. Till the dream is realised, this book is the best substitute. 9- Chaudah Phere by Shivani: the evergreen romance that i can never get bored of 10- Aabol Tabol by Shukumar Ray: in a way this book of bengali nonsensical poetry had been the first book owned by me. Its magic stays with me till this day and will probably last my lifetime. I wish it was a longer list... there are so many i am guilty of not mentioning :( and i pass on the hard task to the people I tag: Paromita Chakraborty, Mudit Singhal, Shashi Singh, Brototi Chatterji, Amishi Shah, Indrajit Chakraborty, Swati Dhar, Sanjay Vasudeva
