Mele Kalikimaka everyone. I hope everyone is enjoying their day. It’s been a great day here in Hawai’i full of Christmas spirit and beautiful weather. Santa did not have any trouble tracking us down in Hawai’i. After we opened gifts, my dad made his famous Swedish pancakes which we ate outside in the gazebo. Although Katie had to work, my parents came in yesterday, and were able to see all four kids as angels in the Christmas Pageant last night at church. It was really cool how that worked out. Uncle Kevin is everywhere this Christmas. The kids made sure to make a decoration to place near the little urn we keep in our hutch. My family decorated his gravesite with ornaments that we have used through the years. Our (very late) Christmas card picture was taken on the beach where we paddled out and spread some of his ashes. Everyone came together to make it a special day. Of course, the kids got plenty of regular gifts, there were many inspired by Uncle Kev. Santa brought a magic hat, my in-laws sent a magic kit, my sister-in-law and brother in law gave both an aqua scope (I’d never even heard of it) which they can use to view things underwater. Perfect since we know Uncle Kev is present in our ocean. They also gave a telescope which we can use to look for the Uncle Kevin star that Emily had officially named and the Kevin D. Sullivan star that Melanie had officially named. My parents gave us a beautiful butterfly ornament with Kevin’s name on it. I had not known that the butterfly was a symbol of organ donation. Katie rocked her Christmas gifts to us this year. She got the kids angel clothes for their Build-a-Bears that Uncle Kevin got them last year, and she gave Madeline a necklace with a star and a moon. She also got me and Kevin (Ike) a clapper…our favorite gift for sure. One of Kevin Sullivan’s favorite gadgets. We’re very excited about using that very logical life hack. Thanks so much to everyone for all your kind words and support over the past few months. I think 2015 is going to be a great year!
