Members , please take the time to read It has been suggested to us that we are not following correct procedure with regards to stray animals . This is totally incorrect . We are also informed that is the belief of the majority of our members that if they post a found animal in this group, they dont have to take it to a pound . I honestly believe our members are not that mis-informed . The law states that an animal must be delivered to the appropriate council animal care facility within 24 hrs if microchipped , and 72 hrs if they are not . This is what we advocate and advise our members to abide by . We dont take kindly to the suggestion that we inform people to do otherwise . Injured animals can be held under duty of care at a registered veterinary practice, under council guidelines . We make every effort to inform people of these regulations, and trust in good faith that they follow our advise . WE ARE NOT an authoritative body who can monitor what people do and dont do . We are simply a Facebook group who are trying to make a difference to the pets of Campbelltown . WE ARE NOT a rescue group and thereby dont have the powers they do to hold injured strays under a duty of care agreement . We can not hold peoples hands and lead them into the pound . People make choices , which we dont always agree with , and have no way, and no right to force them otherwise . It is correct procedure to take a lost found pet to the pound, which to some may seem like a scary proposition , but this is where the animal needs to be in order for their family to find them . Its a simple guideline.... In saying that , dont undermine or question my knowledge of the laws in the area . Do not undermine my knowledge with regards to the care and welfare of animals , as infact I have decades of experience in the animal welfare industry . My partner and I both work full time jobs and can not monitor this group 24 hrs a day . We are available for after hours emergencies, that involve serious injury and loss of life . Kindly cease with the private messages suggesting we have no idea what we are doing May I suggest that if u r not happy with the free service we provide , kindly delete yourself from our group .
