Memories transports us to times long ago and to happy days, sad - TopicsExpress

Memories transports us to times long ago and to happy days, sad days or anything in between thru events. Yesterday I returned to February 1958 and to things remembered. It was a sunny day but windy just like yesterday and I had TB at the time but would not be officially diagnosed until June. I could not get warm in the house. We had an older country home with a fireplace and as many of you know, you cant really get warm on both sides from an old-fashioned one. I had this lingering cough and temperature around 8 PM nightly. I had lost so much weight and although I thought I was fat since my waistline was 23, I was also tired and felt really bad all the time. I was missing days at school because I would be really sick thinking I was having flu or pneumonia. But that day I took an old wicker chair my maternal grandfather had made and I sat in the warmth of the sun and the fireplace on the southwest side of the house where the wind would not hit me. I sat there all afternoon reading LITTLE WOMEN while basking in one of Gods healing sources- the sun. As the sun was setting Mother called me into the house so I wouldnt get chilled. I was too weak and sick to help with the farm chores. But I was feeling better and ate pretty good that night. Mother had a old fashioned woodstove and it would keep food of pinto beans, fried potatoes, cornbread and onions warm all afternoon. The next day I went to school. By the time I got my diagnoses I had lost so much more weight and was 17 inches in the waist. But when I got the right medicine I was able to return to school in September. God chooses many ways for our healing and grants more miracles than we can imagine. I got more than one that year.
