Menetes the second largest village on Karpathos. A quite small - TopicsExpress

Menetes the second largest village on Karpathos. A quite small community; narrow streets, white houses with yellow, ochre and blue windows. The beautiful main church Koimisi Theotokou lies on the rock and was built in 1845. Several legends tell us about miraculous rescues by the Holy Virgin Mary. Women in my age are rarely virgins, I’m not..ha ha. According to one of the miracles a mother in 1904, before my birth, wanted to push her five year old son into abyss. She succeeded in her plan, and the boy called Nikos fell down into 100 meter deep abyss. Believe it or not, little Nikos was saved by a shining woman dressed in white linen. You can say he was saved by the bell in the last second. I know that every human being on earth has a guardian angel. God love you, either you are a Christian, Muslim or a nonbeliever. Menetes, lies at an attitude 350 meter as a lookout post and guardian over Pigadia. The Church of Assumption of the Virgin lies nearly on the edge of Menetes. Usually I love things on the edge, however this is too steep, even for a mountain-gout from Norway. My knees behaves like jelly, my eyes like a waterfall. Normally I have problems standing on my rocking chair. The road to Menetes sneaks like a snake up the hill. Passing a beautiful graveyard. A War Memorial, a proud soldier looking out over the amazing landscape. Once I met a woman up there, against the splendid Greek sky. She had the world’s highest screaming laughter. Even I have no chance to drown that woman’s laughter. And I have black belt in Laughing high from Oxford University..ha ha. The legends tells us that she is laughing so laud that they can measure it to 4,5 on Richter Scale, and that the olives within a reach of 5 km falls from the trees. What do you think, truth or a falsehood? Ha ha
