Mentor, teacher, and good friend passed on yesterday. Al Rickmers. He had a love of mathematics and statistics and made believers out of non-believing students (like me!). He liked the number 30. He was a legendary and passionate teacher and an exemplary instructor. He lives on in the lives of the many of us whose lives he touched. His son, AJ, sent me this note: On Wednesday, March 26, at approximately 9:30 PM, Professor Al Rickmers passed away. He died peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones. The memorial service for Al Rickmers will be held at the Crossroads United Methodist Church in Ashburn Virginia, on Monday March 31, at 2:00 PM.
