Mercedes 2025 Concept Truck Mercedes-Benz has revealed the Future Truck 2025, an advanced prototype with an autonomously driving system and other technologies that could be introduced in 10 years. Autonomous cars have become acceptable in our society already as we have Google and other major car manufacturers testing their concept cars around us. What we didn’t witness and what might be a somewhat hard to accept is a self driving truck. The most distinctive feature of the futuristi-looking truck is the “Highway Pilot”, an autonomous driving system for speeds up to 80 km/h – which was tested in realistic traffic situations on a section of the A14 motorway in Magdeburg, Germany on last July. This is exactly what Mercedes has tried to solve. Although the concept truck won’t see the light of the day until a decade, there is hope that we will be seeing a self driving truck somewhere down the future. Mercedes has improved the aerodynamics of the the truck by making changes to the trailer of the truck. It has ditched the conventional mirrors for cameras (Although will not be approved as of now due to certain rules that make mirrors compulsory) and have made the truck look somewhat similar to the nose-less Voldemont from Harry Potter book series and while doing so claims that it has reduced fuel consumption by 5%. The truck although has a long way to go in terms of getting all the licenses ready to really bring it on the roads, but none the less the design and the thought that Mercedes has put in this concept is a treat for the eyes.
