Merry Christmas Eve.... the sun is making a brief appearance this morning over parts of central and southern Arkansas but more clouds are on the horizon so well call it a mix of sun and clouds today although we may end up with more clouds... Temps are in the 30s and 40s across the state this morning with the main area of rain pushing eastward in NE AR while some light rain and snow is falling over parts of northern sections of the state. Radar was picking up on some snow in NW AR at 8:00 but the area was isolated and I did see some reports of all snow in NW and rain/snow mix in NE. Today, as mentioned will see mostly cloudy skies and breezy with high temps in the 40s. W/NW winds to 15mph will add to the chill and cant rule out a sprinkle or a snowflake this morning across the north. Tonight, skies will begin to clear with partly cloudy skies and temps falling into the 20s and 30s. For Christmas Day, sunshine and mild temps as high pressure moves over the state. Highs will be in the 40s and 50s. Our next weather system will move in Friday with increased cloudiness and a chance of rain. Rain chances go up Friday night and last into the weekend. Temps may get cold enough to end as some winter type precipitation in northern and western AR as the system moves east late Saturday night or Sunday. Colder air is forecast to move in on Tuesday of next week with falling temps. Models are not in agreement on a storm system affecting the state New Years Eve/Day and just beyond, but Ill just leave it at...it could get very interesting because we should have the cold air in place. Have a great day.
