Merseyside workers at centre of a sleeping selfie probe understood to have been cleared Two Merseyside ambulance workers who found themselves at the centre of a ‘sleeping selfie’ probe are understood to have been cleared. Earlier in August, North West Ambulance Service launched an inquiry after a picture was leaked to the ECHO that appeared to show a worker asleep on the job with another worker taking a ‘selfie’ on his phone. Health chiefs said they were unable to share the findings of their investigation, but according to an ECHO source, both workers have been found as having no case to answer. The probe was sparked earlier in August when a photograph seemed to show performance manager Kim Fullerton taking a nap during a night shift with ambulance despatcher Daniel Manning appearing next to her, smiling. It is understood the snap was taken at Elm House in Anfield, where staff answer emergency calls for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). At the time of publication it was not known whether Ms Fullerton was taking 40 winks – a very serious allegation for any health worker – or whether the photograph was taken in jest during a break. NWAS bosses vowed to get to the bottom of what happened, confirming a full investigation would follow.
