Message: “The Church” Part 3 In yesterday’s lesson of “The Church”, someone was disappointed or disgruntaled that I had upset them by what I posted. It is not the intentions of First Apostolic Church and it is not mine intentions as the Pastor to hurt or upset anyone. The Word of God can hurt and upset us. Some folks may say I am judgmental however if you are judging me for this I suppose you would be in the same boat. Judging is Almighty God’s job not mine I bring forth the Word of God as I understand it from my study through Holy Ghost direction and that is how we all grow. Believe me I get that upset myself when I read in the Word of God speaks something to me that I need to change in my life, it is direction and correction from the Holy Ghost. We are all humans here and I am no different than you all. As a human I have feelings and emotions as well. I do hope you continue to follow the teachings here. I hope you all learn from my teachings and studies. The Word of God is sharper than a 2 edged sword. The Church and a ship and this is an appropriate context here. The leadership of the church or vessel is called the Pastor. He receives his sailing orders from God through the Holy Ghost and from Scripture. Pastors here consult with their leadership, and with the leadership of the church and they direct specific individuals that the Holy Ghost has empowered to carry out the mission and the objectives of the church. Everyone has their responsibilities in meeting the goals set before them as to see the church operate intentionally, effectively and efficiently. As we look into the Word of God here we can see how leadership works and where our roll plays in, if we choose to take the steps to get into that roll in leadership. If you think you have problems in life and you feel the calling of God on your life, step into the big adventure of leadership and see how your life changes, not just for you but in your family life as well. 1 Corinthians 12 1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. 3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? 18 BUT NOW HATH GOD SET THE MEMBERS EVERY ONE OF THEM IN THE BODY, AS IT HATH PLEASED HIM. 19 AND IF THEY WERE ALL ONE MEMBER, WHERE WERE THE BODY? 20 BUT NOW ARE THEY MANY MEMBERS, YET BUT ONE BODY. 21 AND THE EYE CANNOT SAY UNTO THE HAND, I HAVE NO NEED OF THEE: NOR AGAIN THE HEAD TO THE FEET, I HAVE NO NEED OF YOU. 22 NAY, MUCH MORE THOSE MEMBERS OF THE BODY, WHICH SEEM TO BE MORE FEEBLE, ARE NECESSARY: 23 AND THOSE MEMBERS OF THE BODY, WHICH WE THINK TO BE LESS HONOURABLE, UPON THESE WE BESTOW MORE ABUNDANT HONOUR; AND OUR UNCOMELY PARTS HAVE MORE ABUNDANT COMELINESS. 24 FOR OUR COMELY PARTS HAVE NO NEED: BUT GOD HATH TEMPERED THE BODY TOGETHER, HAVING GIVEN MORE ABUNDANT HONOUR TO THAT PART WHICH LACKED. 25 THAT THERE SHOULD BE NO SCHISM IN THE BODY; BUT THAT THE MEMBERS SHOULD HAVE THE SAME CARE ONE FOR ANOTHER. 26 AND WHETHER ONE MEMBER SUFFER, ALL THE MEMBERS SUFFER WITH IT; OR ONE MEMBER BE HONOURED, ALL THE MEMBERS REJOICE WITH IT. 27 NOW YE ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST, AND MEMBERS IN PARTICULAR. 28 AND GOD HATH SET SOME IN THE CHURCH, FIRST APOSTLES, SECONDARILY PROPHETS, THIRDLY TEACHERS, AFTER THAT MIRACLES, THEN GIFTS OF HEALINGS, HELPS, GOVERNMENTS, DIVERSITIES OF TONGUES. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. The Old Testament shows us of a man who became a great leader from what he learned and was taught from a child. Here we look at a Hebrew by the name of Moses. He was chosen of God to be a leader. He was raised in the house of Pharoah of Eygpt. In this time period Eygpt was the “World Leader” economically speaking here. They had it all, Organized Society with sophisticated systems of commerce, transportation and government. Egypt’s Military was next to none. God placed Moses in this time and position to become the leader that he was and that he became. In the New Testament we see a correlation between Moses and Paul (formerly known as Saul). Paul had a dual citizenship such as Moses did. Paul also a Hebrew but he was a Roman citizen, originally known as Saul from Tarsus. Paul was highly organized, the Romans revered knowledge , skills and crafts. The Romans embraced education (Academia of Greece, Science from Mesopotamians and the Egyptians, including the art of their own culture). Rome Conquered the World and as they did the Romans took the best of each of the cultures and organized it around Roman philosophy. We can see from the writings of Paul he was highly educated. I tend to think Paul attended UT(University of Tarsus). Both of these men were educated differently but for the same reason to be the leaders they became. Both men were Ordained of God, they were appointed of God to write the Word of God for us. This is for our studies today to show ourselves approved of God. So we can make it into Heaven and have Eternal Life. Moses showed us historical context and revelation while Paul from his educated research, eye witnessing accounts, and revelation. What an education we have before us to learn the Word of God. These two men provided us with the foundation for the order and operation of Priesthood, sacrificial worship, the organizational values and the integration of ministries in the form the Old and New Testaments and are now applied in the church today. Join me tomorrow to see what Administration means in the church today. God bless and I hope you join me for services at the First Apostolic Church in Harrisburg, IL. At 10am service under the ole shade tree. Also please check out our website at fachbg God bless you all Pastor Philip “Pg” Fritts
