Message from AACTA regarding TV DOCO AWARDS... Following the recent announcement of the reinstatement of four Documentary Craft Awards for the 3rd AACTA Awards, a reminder that our Documentary Television Program deadline is fast approaching – this Friday July 19, 2013. In order to be eligible, a Documentary Television Program must: · be an Australian production produced for television. · have had the first episode of the entered series/season broadcast in Australia for the first time between 8 June 2012 and 14 November 2013. (This refers to the first episode of the entered series in the case of a documentary series.) · be either: o a single, self-contained and continuous documentary; or o a documentary series of a potentially unlimited number of episodes but not less than two episodes; that is a creative treatment of actuality other than a news, current affairs, sports coverage, magazine or infotainment program, Light Entertainment Television Series or Reality Television Series. This definition includes programs that consist of the Producers setting up a premise or initial situation that is then observed with minimal further intervention by the Producers. In the case of a single, standalone documentary, the Entrant must submit the entire production for judging. In the case of a documentary series, the Entrant must submit up to a maximum of: 1. two episodes; or 2. 120 minutes of material whichever is the shorter, to be judged as a single entry for the Best Documentary Television Program Award, but as individual entries for all other Awards. ENTRY FEE: $880 – Documentary Television Program AACTA has created a brand new online entry form for the 3rd AACTA Awards, which will greatly simplify the entry process.
