Then click ‘contact.’ The Commissioner of Public Lands, Peter Goldmark, takes phone calls via (360) 902 1004 NEWS FLASH: Father Frank Schuster and Blessed Theresa of Calcutta Parish have raised over $6,500 for TC4 to rent a legal campsite! TC4 has found an outstanding campsite – it is called the Hans Jensen Group Camp Site and is just to the east of SE Lake Sammamish Parkway and the Lake Sammamish State Park Boat Launch. It is a Group Campsite that is part of Lake Sammamish State Park. In the summer it is used by groups like the Boy Scouts – but it is closed all winter until May 20th! It is so big we wouldn’t even have to use half of it. If we were charged for 7 primitive campsites at the usual $12 rate (each can take 8 people) the cost would be $84 a day! Now all we have to do is persuade the Governor, the Washington State Parks Director and Commission, and the Commissioner of Public Lands to let us use it! (Our letter to the Governor is attached) MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNOR AND COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC LANDS: Please rent the Vacant Hans Jensen Group Camp Site, part of Lake Sammamish State Park, to SHARE/WHEEL’s Tent City4. Without a safe place to go, they will have to scatter. Sleeping alone outside is dangerous. At least 57 homeless people died outside, or by violence, in King County last year. Public land should help solve public problems. Please let SHARE/WHEEL’s Tent City4 stay together and safe on public land while it is lying fallow. Please act on this by the end of the day Friday, January 17th, because that’s when they must move from Sammamish!
