Message from an SIU fan: In terms of the Private Security - TopicsExpress

Message from an SIU fan: In terms of the Private Security Industry Act that governs our industry the Act itself fails, although it does mention it, what The Crown is. Anybody know? Secondly, it is becoming glaringly obvious that the SIA is itself becoming more and more intrusive in terms of what they require sub-contractors and business to abide by. This seems especially true of those who are part of or have applied for ACS. They are now adding requirement for information that fall outside the remit of the legislation and that also appear to be bordering breaching privacy. Is the SIA on a massive information gathering mission at the moment and have they lost sight of their mission statement? In conversations with stakeholders it would seem that the only thing the SIA is interested in at the moment, in fact obsessed with, is HMRCs benefits and our compliance with HMRC, and considering that HMRC deems it acceptable to possibly sell our information on the open market in future, Im getting a bit concerned as to my rights. It would seem that us licensed operatives are being treated more like adversaries and targets. Should the SIA not be challenged on their stance considering they should in fact be acting in the interests of the industry and its members? Any comments?
