Message sent by Irene Shearer (Police, NHW & Community Messaging Co-ordinator, Slough) Langley / Kedermister neighbourhood update for June Here is the latest Langley St Mary’s and Kedermister neighbourhood update by PC Ataul Ahmad. Crime Information The following link will enable you to analyse and view the crime rates within your area, just type in your postcode and all of the information will be displayed police.uk/ (opens new window) Operations Throughout the last month the neighbourhood team have increased patrols in Langley St Marys in an attempt to combat the school holidays and any possible anti-social behaviour (asb). Due to this operation we have been able to visit suggested hotspots which the public have informed us of and in some instances deterred youths from returning, due to stop searches being carried out. We have also carried out immigration operation, which has lead to four individuals being arrested due to being illegally and working in this country. Good News Story Since the months before Christmas we have seen a noticeable drop in burglaries for the area, and compared to this time last year they have dropped by more than 20%. This is due to high visibility patrols and information fed to us by the public, enabling us to target certain areas during patrols. Anti-Social Behaviour We are still having similar problems as last month with scramblers and youths smoking cannabis. Although we do seem to have moved them on from initial places, we are often being told after the fact about new places they are congregating. It is vital that members of the public inform us as soon as it is possible about any problems that they are having, either by contacting the neighbourhood team directly or calling 101. Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) The NAG met this month on Monday 12 May. Updates from the NAG meeting are being collated and will be published in next month’s update. If anyone has any interest in becoming involved in the local NAG then please get in touch with the Neighbourhood Team who can facilitate attendance. Contact us If you want any advice or would like to contact the neighbourhood team you can call us on the police non emergency number 101 but if your call is an emergency then dial 999. You can also contact us via email:[email protected] - please note this email address cannot be used to contact Thames Valley Police to report crimes or for any urgent matters. You can also now send non-emergency messages to us using the online form that is available on the Thames Valley Police website. A number of people have already sent their comments using this method. For you to do that please follow the link on your neighbourhood web page. Please allow some time for us to get back to you as we can only check our mail box when on duty. You can visit the neighbourhood section of the force website at Visit your Neighbourhood. To view your own neighbourhood information just click on your neighbourhood’s name. If you have information about crime or Anti Social Behaviour in your area but you do not want to speak to the police, please call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555111. Neighbourhood Watch To help prevent crime by improving security, increasing vigilance, creating and maintaining a caring community and reducing opportunities for crime by increasing crime prevention awareness. Neighbourhood Watch is a community initiative, which is supported by the police, not run by them, so success depends on what the members put in to it. The Police cant deal with the problems and issues arising from crime and anti-social behaviour alone; they need the help of the whole community. Neighbourhood Watch provides a way for local people to play an important part in addressing this balance and making their communities safer.
