My thoughts are with you and the PCS members – your fight is our fight. In solidarity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PCS Scottish Government West Central Scotland Branch, Alec ONeill, Branch secretary On behalf of Ken Reid (Chair) and my colleagues in the West Central Scotland Branch; my colleagues and I will be standing with you in spirit tomorrow and we will be withdrawing our labour next week as part of this noble campaign against a pay deal that simply worsens the cost of living crisis we each face in ever more difficult terms. Against a backdrop of bonuses for bankers and proposed wage increases for Members of Parliament (who already take home quite significant paycheques) it beggars belief that hard working people are being offered a pay deal that doesn’t even match inflation. A day’s pay in these circumstances hurts our household budgets all the more, but, it is a sacrifice we must make in order to be clear to the Westminster parliament and devolved administrations – enough is enough. Our struggle is very much their struggle, the 1% Pay Cap applies equally to Civil Servants in Scottish Departments and smashing that cap is the only way to make a path for fairer pay in the Civil Service.
