Met 2 total strangers after breakfast that gave me insight into the state of affairs of our beloved Seremban. The first was an elderly Chinese gentleman who was waiting for an insurance company to open its doors. His house in Lobak was broken into recently losing about RM 25k in valuables. Luckily he opined that he had just bought a policy that covered home theft late last year. After that as I was getting into my car an Indian teacher from Rembau asked for a lift to May bank. She had just applied for a replacement IC as she was robbed in Lobak over the weekend of her handbag. She had to go to the bank to replace her ATM card with a police report she had with her. Whilst I did not get the names of these 2 people, assisting them was a given cause yours truly was a Paulian, but, the fact that they had to endure such an event made me want to really ask the authorities a burning question. Just recently we had quite a high profile mugging right inside the compound of a house of worship resulting in the death of one of the Almightys faithful servants, and I had heard numerous rethoric of wanting to make our town safer, but, to date, what has happened to all those promises? We are told not to be vigilantes, and I do agree, but what will it take for crime to stop? When will it be enough? Another senseless killing? Another home invasion? An armed robbery in daylight? Should we just open up and let these low life reign supreme? What will it take to pressure our authorities to do something tangible with positive results? Like the US, if we are not allowed to be vigilantes, can I then apply to register a National Rifle Association and arm citizens to fend and protect themselves, their loved ones and property? When will all this be enough?
