Met a great fella Monday who runs a taxidermy shop in Carmel by the name of Kevin Smith. ( Alaska to Maine Taxidermy ) I brought a couple bear hides to him that I had in the freezer. Of course we talked about a lot of things but the bear referendum dominated our conversation. We both agreed that getting the message to hunters who dont hunt bears AND people who dont hunt at all, (but arent wackos), is one of the most important things we need to do. He said something that made a lot of sense and I want to share it with everyone. What he said was: We all know people who dont hunt or could care less either way whether Maine has bear hunting or not. They might be your mother in-law or a cousin, your grandfather that used to hunt but doesnt anymore or maybe just a friend. People in your lives. Ask them, if you wont vote on it because it doesnt matter to you, will you vote it down because it matters to me. Please, do it as a personal favor to me. Do it for my family, do it for our local economy, just please vote no for me. That struck a chord with me. I think if we all do that. well get a lot of people to look for that referendum # on the ballot. Please share this....
