Met with Angela Smith this morning. Went through the approval with her and emphasised my concerns regarding safety of the proposed access arrangements, including the pedestrian safety refuge on the blind bend. Showed her the diagrams which seem to indicate pedestrians will be in danger and the fact that Chapel Lane residents have to operate a push button to exit their driveway. Also showed her the proposed route for HGV construction traffic along Underbank. It would not be wrong to say she was shocked. She is of the opinion that Underbank is an unacceptable route, being a regular user, and that pedestrian safety on the bend in Chapel Lane has not been fully considered. Whilst she couldnt promise anything she will make further representations to the highways and planning departments to establish if the issues have been fully and properly considered. She will also investigate if she can call it in at a national level, ie report to the Secretary of State, but does not believe this is the case due to the size of the development, ie small. She will copy me into any correspondence. Ill update when I can
