Meteorologist Ben Gelber says a winter storm is headed our way. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY LATE SUNDAY/MONDAY MORNING The core of the polar air is shifting north, but that will also allow some mild, moist Gulf air to ride over the retreating cold dome, bringing a wintry mix late Sunday into Monday afternoon that will make travel difficult. A full day of sunshine did not help raise temperatures beyond the teens this afternoon, after starting off below zero in many areas for the second time in three days—the coldest was -5 at Marion. Todays wind chill made it feel below zero all day long. We wont drop much tonight with southerly winds and increasing high clouds, leveling off near 10 degrees, before rising toward morning. Light snow will develop across Central Ohio late Sunday afternoon, with sleet and freezing rain across the southern counties. As the layer aloft warms, snow and sleet along the I-70 corridor will turn to freezing rain as the evening progresses and plain rain in the south. Precipitation will change back to light snow across Central Ohio before tapering off Monday afternoon, with light accumulations (1-2”). Another shot of cold air, though not as frigid as this past week, will keep the snow around through much of next week. Finally, much milder weather will arrive by next weekend. Tonight: Developing clouds. Low 10 but rising later. Tomorrow: Clouds increase and give way to light snow and sleet late in the day, changing to freezing rain overnight. High 30. Monday: Wintry mix with freezing drizzle ending as light snow in the early afternoon. High 34 (29). Tuesday: Partly cloudy, colder, stray flurry. High 24 (18). Wednesday: Mostly sunny, cold. High 25 (9). Thursday: Sun and clouds. High 28 (12). Friday: Mostly sunny, seasonable. High 36 (16).
