MetroNews Morning News Headlines: Four weeks ago -- a teenager in Mercer County was killed after allegedly becoming combative with a State Police trooper and trying to take his gun. Last night, those who knew Timothy Hill, 18, gathered to remember him in Kegley. A candlelight vigil was held near the area where he was shot. A former Logan County circuit clerk is the second person to plead guilty to federal charges connected to an illegal kickback scheme at Arch Coals Mountain Laurel Mining Complex in Logan County. Alvis Porter, 61, from Holden admitted to paying an estimated $400,000 in kickbacks during a four year period so his company -- Quality Oil -- would be hired for construction work at the site. Those who lived, worked or went to school near the former Monsanto Plant in Nitro in Kanawha County can now register for medical monitoring for possible health effects from dioxin. Its part of a settlement in a class action lawsuit filed against the company. Those impacted have to register for the benefits by Oct. 31. A researcher at the University of South Alabama says another look shows crude MCHM was more toxic to aquatic life -- the water flea in particular -- than originally thought. The correlation to humans is NOT clear. The data on the water flea was really the only available scientific information about the chemical available when MCHM spilled into the Elk River at Freedom Industries back on January 9th.
