Mettā Arts (from the ancient Pali word meaning loving-kindness) - TopicsExpress

Mettā Arts (from the ancient Pali word meaning loving-kindness) Productions was committed to concert, event and recording productions of mostly live concerts and organized events, seminars, workshops and conferences with a common thread -- to unite diverse fields of energy into a concerted union as ONE PEOPLE, ONE WORLD, ONE LOVE, thus the production slogan: Let the Music Speak. The history began as The Headlines Presents which ran full bookings and promotions at a 750-capacity old theater venue in Albuquerque, NM and a 250-capacity nightclub in Santa Fe, NM. Larger events were held at the 2,500-capacity Paolo Soleri amphitheater or the 2,000-capacity Santa Fe Convention Center Hall. From 1988-1990, Mettā Arts Productions worked as a sub-contractor for Bill Graham Presents (BGP) in the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Area, co-producing and occasionally stage-managing live productions at the Berkeley Community Theatre, the Greek Theatre, and the Oakland Coliseum. Several co-productions with other local producers and promoters encompassed several events in Marin County. Some of the live acts performing then were the Rolling Stones, the Who, U2, Jean Luc-Ponty, the Grateful Dead, etc. From 1990-1995, Mettā Arts Production ran full bookings at three different venues: a 250-capacity nightclub, a 300-capacity restaurant-night club, and a 150-capacity all-acoustic cafe venue. Larger acts were produced and promoted at the then 1,500-capacity Boulder Theater and the 2,800-capacity Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre. Plans to develop a whole concert series at the 9,500-capacity Red Rocks Amphitheatre came to an end as an industry-wide corporate takeover began sweeping across the United States with the onset of then Concert Productions, International (CPI) contracting whole national tours, and Clear Channels nationwide acquisition of concert venues on a large scale, which saw the exodus of many independent producers and promoters. There were 800+ independent and 300+ co-productions.
