Mexican leading actress, TV director/producer, and film producer, Salma Hayek, of Lebanese and Spanish parents. She is the first and ONLY Mexican to be nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her performance in "Frida" (as Frida Kahlo), which she co-produced. This made Hayek, along with Katy Jurado ("Broken Lance") and Adriana Barraza ("Babel"), one of only THREE Mexican actresses to have been nominated for an Oscar! At the age of 23, Hayek landed the title role in "Teresa," a successful Mexican telenovela that made her a star. She starred in the film "El Callejon de los Milagros (Midaq Alley)."
