Michael LordofSwagg Airhunuoje LONG LETTER TO OTUO YOUTHS. Warm greetings to you all. My name is Airhunuoje Michael a.k.a LordOfSwagg. A proud Son of Otuo and a Patriotic Nigerian. Let me start by apologizing to anyone or group of persons that this letter may offend. My desire is not to slight, criticize or condemn anyone; but to help us reevaluate our lives and deeds. Pls if you cant stomach the TRUTH dont read Looking through history, one will discover that the most successful people in the world GREW their way into success. Their case(s) wasnt spontaneous. It took them time, strength & perseverance. As I walked through the streets of Otuo a while back; I noticed that the status quo had changed. Our Young ones have lost the desire to work hard or even smart. The taste for quick riches and glory have blindfolded their eyes that the only motivation they have for doing anything is the INSTANT MATERIAL GAIN. I see many artisans in Otuo; Painters, Vulcanizers, Barbers and almost every kind of noble talented profession; yet these people hardly have apprentice. Why??? Our youths have become so proud and materialistic that they cant afford to humble themselves to learn a trade. Nobody wants to serve anymore. They all want to be a BOSS. Lemme quickly remind you, King David was more successful as a King in Israel coz he was lucky to serve under a King called Saul. Pursuing that which would give you instant cash will only give you food today, and turn u into a begger tomorrow. Unfortunately for the youths, some of our politicians Have seen this trend thats why they spread and share money only when election approaches. Is it impossible for them to create a scholarship scheme for brilliant Sons & Daughters of Otuo who are in or about entering higher institutions to benefit from? No its not impossible. When I think about these things at times, I feel like crying; however I dont blame our politicians. I blame our youths. I fault any youth based organization that has not made a direct effort to affect the future of Otuo youths. Our youths must stop asking for FISH. Rather we must begin to ask for HOOKS, so we can fish for ourselves. We must let go of our vain pride, pride that doesnt add money to our pockets or wisdom to our heads. Many of us may be shy to learn a trade because of what others may think or say; but ask yourself: Na you and person come this world together? When you die nor be only you them go bury for your grave?. Let people talk. After 10years, this same people will come back singing your name. The age of the youth is the most desirable in all the stages of life. We have the Strength, Courage, Wisdom & Time to accomplish great things. Forget about who your family is or is not. This is your life. Stop blaming an uncle or aunty in Lagos or London. Stop wishing and blaming things you dont have; Focus on the things you have in your life. Be ready to learn, be ready to serve. You are already too old to be functioning at the level you are functioning now. Make a firm decision to do something great with your life. Otuo has come a long way. We have had challenges and God has helped us overcome many. Our youths must arise! Enough of the Cultism, Gangsterism, Early Unwanted Pregnancy & Political Thuggerysm. We must show the world that we are better! We must show them that we are talented, creative and morally sound. We must prove to them that we have Integrity, Charisma & Vision to serve as Leaders wherever we find ourselves. Its time to tell the world that we are ready to create an Otuo community that generations unborn will be grateful to be a part of. The future of OTUO is in YOUR hands. Pls dont destroy it.
