Michael Pilato putting Matt Millen in the State College mural next to Joe Paterno is the final straw for me with Michael. I have been quiet as he has continually fed into the false media narrative (seemingly out if his own self interest) by taking Jerry off the mural immediately after his arrest and then taking the halo off of Paternos head. Putting Millen in there is a disgrace and appears to have been done simply for political cover. Millen threw Joe under the bus on ESPN on day one because he knew it was what his new employers wanted and because he was afraid of his own role with the Second Mile becoming an issue. Honoring Millen like this should outrage any Paterno supporter or anyone who cares about the truth here. For the record, about a year and a half ago Pilato created a mural panel which depicted Joe, Franco and me. I suspected at the time that it would never see the light of day, especially when it kept getting delayed. I always figured that Michael, being extremely politically correct, would find an excuse to wimp out. Sure enough, after I came out and said on national TV that Sandusky is innocent (a far worse crime I guess than throwing Paterno under the bus) he contacted me to say that he would be changing the panel to reflect my eyes and ears being covered up. I laughed at him and told him to do whatever he wanted and that I already knew it would never see the light of day. Michael is a great artist and his heart seems to be in the right place, but like most artists he is a feeler and not a thinker. He knows very little about the case and he has inadvertently played a VERY key role in helping the media do what they have done here, all while elevating himself. Putting Millen there next to Joe and Franco is the final straw for me. I should have spoken earlier but I wasnt sure my judgment was 100% sound because of what I knew Michael was doing with my depiction (I honestly dont want to be part of a mural which I NOW see as a HUGE contributor to the injustice in this case, no matter how much it might have meant years from now for my daughter to have some indication that my work here was not a total disaster). I am well aware that Michael and the mural are very popular and that he wont receive any criticism for putting Millen in the mural, but that doesnt mean it is it totally wrong as well as a strong indication of what the mural is REALLY all about. onwardstate/2014/09/29/pilato-adds-franco-harris-herb-hand-others-to-mural/
