Michael and I witnessed Roswell, GA police brutality in action - TopicsExpress

Michael and I witnessed Roswell, GA police brutality in action tonight! We were sitting on a restaurant balcony overlooking the street in Old Roswell when we heard a loud scream. Everyone looked over at a young man standing on the sidewalk leaning against a bldg. A cop screamed get down and when the young man didnt get down fast enough (he held his hands in the air though) the cop tassed him 3 times. It upset me so much I started screaming at the cop and would have run over but Michael wouldnt let me go. It was horrible seeing this man curled on the sidewalk and being tassed. Another man thankfully filmed the entire thing. The cops called for backup and three more cop cars arrived plus a fire rescue and an ambulance.I cannot begin to describe the fear and anger I felt toward those cops. They clearly were using excessive force as the young man NEVER fought them. After all the emergency vehicles left, I went to talk to the man that had filmed the entire thing. He told me he and the man arrested had been discussing politics and the man said loudly, Thats Bullshit The cop heard him from across the street and ran over screaming, Get down. The poor guy didnt even know if they were talking to him. There was already an attorney present and I gave my name as a witness to this police brutality. I then talked to a man who owns a number of restaurants on that street and he said that they have had trouble with kids getting drunk and starting fights so the cops are a little more aggressive to prevent trouble. Does that give the right to treat citizens this way? I am so disgusted and disappointed in the Roswell, GA police Dept. Im not a violent person and not usually outspoken unless I see someone being mistreated.
